120 affirmation letters
The Affirmation Letter.
A simple tool that helped build a movement and support network of 10,000’s of Black women.
Imagine: Black women across the country pausing in the whirlwind of our days to write ourselves the words we need to hear; to affirm ourselves; to center our journeys, our dreams, our voices. This small act is the heartbeat of Dear Black Women, powering our Circles, our social media and so much more. This small act is an individual gift that becomes a gift to us all.
To celebrate, I created this anthology of 120 affirmation letters from 111 Dear Black Women.
These letters will move you. Go through all of them or start with one of the 25 themes below.
Special thank you to Christiana Allen-Pipkin, the first ever content manager for Dear Black Women. With big love for us and an incredible eye for detail, Christiana helped me manage and curate a growing inventory of 1,000’s of pieces of affirmation content.
To the Black women who took time to affirm themselves with Dear Black Women, I thank you. To those who have not, but wanted to or are just learning about us, I encourage and welcome you! Enjoy!
