"It’s funny how much power words can hold; they can easily make your day, or they can break it."
Written by Dear Black Woman Taylor Marie
Today, there are three things that I know: God blessed me with another day, I am loved, and I am happy.
I woke up today dreading getting out of bed. I was too tired, too sore, and the weather was miserable. I laid in bed contemplating if I would do anything today or if I would just stay in my bed and never get up. I noticed how the more I told myself the negative things about today, the easier it was to stay in bed. So, I thought, why not try saying three positive things about the day. I took a deep breath and chanted, “today God woke me up and blessed me with another day, today I am loved by many family and friends, and today I am happy because of all of these things and much more.” I immediately felt better about the day and felt energized. I hopped out of bed and cleaned, ate breakfast, and even ran some errands.
It’s funny how much power words can hold; they can easily make your day, or they can break it. And as I move through this space, going through a journey I have never gone through before, I’ve realized how much I need to keep telling myself positive words. Not only for my happiness, but for the happiness of the tiny human I am growing inside of me. So, I make this promise to myself that I will tell myself three positive things each day, as often as I need. And today, I can confidently say that God blessed me with another day, I am loved, and I am happy.
